DIGITAL TWIN #4 - Bintawa "Kotak" Rivulet, Kuching | 3D SCAN | Free Download!

This rivulet in Bintawa is where the fishing boats (known as “Kotak”) of fishermen in Kampung Bintawa used to moor. The mooring facilities served the ‘Heng Hua’ fishing community resettled from Petanak (squatter area) in the early 70s. In 1980s, MBKS (Council of Kuching South) built a market; a hawker center; and a public toilet to cater for the needs of vibrant fishing community at that time.   About 15 years ago to date, the traditional kotaks are no longer the common scene in Bintawa as they have succumbed to new fishing boat technologies and the inconvenience of having to pass through the barrage (further upriver). Subsequently, the rivulet has become a backwater where the rivulet turns into a messy mudflat during low tide.
